Oh, who to believe;

You were lied to.  Plain and simple.  For years.  From a man who punctuated that lie with the phrase “period.”  As in “you can keep your plan, period.”  Spin it however helps you sleep at night.  Parse it.  Put it in context.  Deflect. Hell, blame it on Bush.  Or cover it with a “caveat.”  No matter, you were lied to.  Maybe you just wanted it to be true.  Wanted it too hard.  How do you feel now?  Are you in the least bit embarrassed?  Or angry?  Welcome to socialism, where all your dreams come true.  You voted for it.  Now, it’s time to pay for it.

You know what I meant....

You know what I meant….

This is pretty damned clear:

“Let me be exactly clear about what health care reform means to you, First of all, if you’ve got health insurance, you like your doctors, you like your plan, you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan.  Nobody is talking about taking that away from you.”

Barack Obama

Uh-oh, getting a little fuzzy here:

“I can’t pass a law that says, ‘I’m sorry, employers, you can never make changes to the health care plans that you provide your employees.’ What I can say is that the government is not going to force you to, your employer or you to join a government plan, for example.  If you’re happy with it, and your employer’s happy with it, keep it.”

Barack Obama

After all those years, this is what they “meant” to say:

“We should’ve been more precise. We used [the message that everyone could keep their plan] to allay the fears of people who had group policies or significant coverage through their employer, [which] was the overwhelming number.

Steny Hoyer

So Hoyer feels that they should have clarified by telling citizens they could keep their current plans “unless you have coverage that’s insufficient to accomplish the objectives of giving you adequate quality health care.”

I’m not quite sure that Mr. Hoyer’s take on reality jibes with the President’s firm and unequivocal stance on being able to keep your plan, your doctor, your money, your privacy, your rights, your sanity.  So after years of staying on message, now the message was “unclear.”  Guess that’s the new euphemism for “we lied through our teeth and you idiots bought it.”

The only thing worse than their lack of shame, is the lack of embarrassment or even anger of their supporters, those folks who constantly reminded me how “un-caring” and “evil” I was, looking out only for my own selfish interests, all because I wouldn’t buy into their socialist utopian medical delivery system.  Of course, it was because I was racist no doubt.  One wonders, what will it take to awaken them from their “fairy-dust” dreams of “everything is free and government cares.”  Or will they broaden the pool of waivers to anyone who voted Democrat and be done with it.

Reminds one of another great equivocator:  I guess it depends on what the meaning of “you can keep your plan” is…
